Company History

The Joining Industries story began in 1992, when a young entrepreneur named Michael Francoeur started Energy Beam Labs in Cheshire, CT. With six employees and an electron beam welding machine, he opened his doors for business with a vision of creating an ultra-modern facility where customers could come for solutions to their tough joining problems.

Over the next decade, Energy Beam Labs expanded into laser welding, relocated to East Granby, CT. and changed its name to Joining Technologies, Inc. The business grew quickly and added to its service offerings supply chain management, laser cladding and in-house machining. JT also began to design and build unique, automated laser-based work cells for customers who preferred to vertically integrate the laser welding or cladding processes into their own facilities.

Continued Innovation and Growth

In 2012, the company launched Newgate Instruments, LLC, to design and manufacture innovative devices for natural gas pipeline monitoring. After the commercialization of its groundbreaking line of multivariable pressure transmitters, Newgate was acquired by Midland, TX-based WellWorx Energy in order to enhance its line of well-monitoring services, automated fluid level systems and downhole tools.

Joining Technologies Automation, LLC was formed in 2016 as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) primarily serving the aerospace and medical device markets. JTA provides manual and automated work systems for assembly, laser welding, laser cladding, and other manufacturing processes.

American Cladding Technologies, Inc. was formed in 2017. What began as the laser cladding department within Joining Technologies grew into a sustainable, stand-alone business serving many markets; most notably aerospace and power generation.

Joining Industries, Inc. emerged in 2017 as the parent company to Joining Technologies, Joining Technologies Automation, and American Cladding Technologies. Its mission is to provide a stable financial, legal and administrative infrastructure upon which its subsidiaries may thrive and grow by focusing entirely on delivering value to their customers.

More than a quarter century after our founding, Joining Industries is a leading North American provider of precision laser fusion services and equipment.
